This event will feature a panel discussion bringing together scholars and creators to explore the history, cultural significance, and evolving future of zines in social justice movements. This program opens the archives to showcase selections from UMD’s D.C. Punk Collection, emphasizing the vital role of zines as tools of social resistance and community expression in the nation’s capital. Through dialogue and display, Punk Resistance invites participants to engage with the creative power of self-publishing as both community archiving and a living practice of self-expression, community-building, and dissent.
